 Officer Candidates Information Page

 

The student leader is an important component of SkillsUSA.  Each year SkillsUSA Ohio elects 2 National Officer Candidates, 7 State Officers and 42 Regional Officers.  These Officers attend training and conferences and serve as the student leadership team for the organization.   This page has been designed to assist schools and students in preparing to run for Regional, State or National Office. 

 

The State Officer is elected at the State Leadership and Skills Conference (State Competition) in April.  7 State officers are elected.  Any member of SkillsUSA with at least one year of school remaining who has good grades, attendance and behavior is eligible to run for State Office.  Each School is eligible to send 7 candidates to the State Conference.  All candidates must pass a screening test and receive the recommendation of their school administrator.  Please review the required duties on the application to be a state officer.

 

The National Officer Candidate is nominated at the State Leadership and Skills Conference (State Competition) in April.  2 National Officer Candidates.  Any member of SkillsUSA with at least one year of school remaining who has good grades, attendance and behavior is eligible to run for National Office.  All candidates must pass a screening test and receive the recommendation of their school administrator and SkillsUSA State Director.  National Officer Candidates then run for office at the National Conference in June.

 

The Regional Officer is elected at the State Fall Leadership Conference.  Each Region has a team of 7 officers.  Any member of SkillsUSA who has good grades, attendance and behavior is eligible to run for Regional Office.  Each School is eligible to send 7 candidates to the State Fall Leadership Conference.  All candidates must pass a screening test and receive the recommendation of their school administrator.

 

The State/National Officer Screening Test is administered at the School by the recommending School Administrator and submitted to the SkillsUSA Ohio Office for review.  National Officer Candidates will be interviewed at the State Conference by the SkillsUSA State Director or designee.
