SkillsUSA Ohio
FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
NOVEMBER 9-10, 2020
(VIRTUAL)
We are excited to announce that The SkillsUSA Ohio High School Fall Leadership Conference is "the premier professional development opportunity for High School SkillsUSA students and advisors" will be all virtual for 2020! This allows this incredible conference to be available to students at their finger tips! This conference is open to all students, advisors, and administrators that are interested in learning more about SkillsUSA or are that are interested in getting students enrolled in SkillsUSA. The Virtual Fall Leadership Conference will focus on providing "tools in the tool box" that students can use in and out of SkillsUSA. Sessions will focus around chapter development, the new program of work, and business and industry led sessions. Statesman awards can be earned by students completing each of the sessions. SkillsUSA Ohio is a "Student-lead" organization and Regional Delegate Assemblies will also take place as a part of this conference. Student leaders looking to run for election will be able to run for office and every school district is entitled to delegates to vote on in the elections based on last year's membership (see below for delegate counts).

Keynote Speaker-Gina Catanzarite
Gina Catanzarite is an award-winning television producer, writer, and educator who has worked both nationally and locally in her fields since 1987. Currently, Catanzarite operates her company, Arania Productions, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She counts 16 Emmy awards, 39 Emmy nominations, a Matrix award, 2 Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Awards, 8 Telly Awards, 3 Golden Quill Awards, an Ohio Associated Press MEA award, and a screenwriting grant from the Theatre Association of Pennsylvania, among her many professional honors. She also was recognized with a Carnegie Science Award as the 2018 Science Communicator of the Year; and she is on the Board of Governors for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Projects range from studio-based talk shows to documentaries and TV-magazine-format programs covering a wide range of subject matter. Public affairs issues, workforce development, clinical and translational science, medical topics, and STEM and other education issues are frequent themes of her work.
Catanzarite holds a Masters degree for Journalism Educators from Kent State University, where she graduated summa cum laude and also was the recipient of the 2014 James Sutherland Endowed Scholarship for outstanding graduate students. Her area of academic specialty is the social role and ethical responsibilities of mass media. She has taught as an Associate Professor in the School of Communication at Point Park University since 2006. Catanzarite is a 1987 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with degrees in Non-Fiction Writing, Film Theory, and a certificate in American Sign Language for the Deaf.
